Steeped in a rich and colourful history, the inviting Hotel Zero was once a grand 1880s townhouse, located in the heart of wealthy Valparaiso. Fortunately, the original building survived the powerful earthquake that devastated much of the town in 1906 and many original features remain in the property, including original stone walls and exposed brickwork. The hotel has quite the vantage point, as the building towers high upon the popular Cerro Allegre hillside, with sweeping views over the port and colourful rooftops below. The hotel has an airy feel with large windows and high ceilings, and the tasteful lobby is kitted out in soft hues of blue with a warm oriental style runner that ties the design together. The nine rooms are beautifully decorated with a fusion of traditional and modern styles, whilst each room has an adjoining stone floor bathroom, loaded with luxury products and toiletries. There is a bright conservatory and charming dining area at the back of the hotel, both of which are decorated with interesting photography and pieces of locally sourced art. The conservatory is adjoined by an inviting, cosy terrace with wooden industrial style seating and the area lined with blooming colourful plants.
