An adventurous itinerary which allows the opportunity to explore the picturesque Lake District of Chile, Chiloe Island and the magnificent Torres del Paine National Park, with its three jagged, ice-carved spires. The trip begins with a few days in a bohemian Santiago neighbourhood to soak up the history and culture of this lively city, with time for a day trip to the wineries or vibrant Val Paraiso. The Lake District is the next stop: fly south to collect your hire car to drive past meadows and snow-capped volcanoes, then through tiny villages until you reach Villarica and Pucon, a mecca for adventurers where you can hike, raft and horse ride to your heart’s content. Continue your journey to Puerto Varas on the shores of the enormous Llanquihue, the second largest lake in Chile. Take the ferry to relaxed Chiloe and spend a few days exploring the distinctive UNESCO churches and rolling countryside. Next, fly to Patagonia to see the sensational landscapes of the Torres del Paine National Park. After four days in the wilderness, fly to Santiago for a final night before returning home.
